Eleven producers from Macedonia, assisted by the Increasing Market Employability (IME) programme of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, jointly presented their products and business stories in a special area of the fair.

Organic agriculture is important for the development of the rural economy and has great potential for employment of young and progressive farmers. “Switzerland is a long term supporter of organic food in Macedonia”, stated Ambassador Lazzarotto. “We have seen and supported many firsts in terms of organic in Macedonia – the first law and bylaws on organic production, the first organic certification body, first organic labels, the first organic curricula in agricultural school, the first trained agricultural advisors for organic production and the first sales of organic products.  We are even prouder to be able to see that in 10 years these firsts have grown in a lot more and we can talk about organic foods as a vibrant and high-growth potential sector in Macedonia today”, he added.

„Come and hear our story at the Agrofood 2015!“, say the organic producers and cooperators of the IME programme - Beorg, Nasa Dobra Zemja, Tera Organika, Biona, BioKult, Ekogrin, Bioflor, Procert, Balkan Biocert, Lipa and the Federation of organic producers in Macedonia. The Swiss company Sativa for production of organic seeds is also exhibiting for the first time at this year’s AgroFood Fair.

Panel discussions about the benefits of organic production, as well and the different business models and access to finance are presented for everyone who is interested to start a business in this sector.
