The European Asylum Support Office (EASO) supports Schengen states whose asylum and reception systems are under particular pressure. It facilitates, coordinates and promotes cooperation among states on asylum-related matters.

The regulation establishing EASO provides for the possibility that the four associated states of the Schengen and Dublin Agreements (Switzerland, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein) may participate in the office’s activities. Switzerland has concluded a corresponding agreement with the EU, which has come into force on 1st march 2016
