Städte machen 70% der weltweiten Wirtschaftsleistung aus und sind dementsprechend für die Entwicklung einzelner Länder von zentraler Bedeutung. In Südafrika unterstützt das SECO deshalb in Zusammenarbeit mit der Weltbank das «Cities Support Program». Das Programm unterstützt acht Stadtverwaltungen bei einer inklusiven, nachhaltigen und ökonomischen Organisation ihrer Städte.

SECO Start-up Fund

The SECO Start-up Fund is a debt vehicle that provides loans to Swiss-based individuals or small enterprises for the purpose of launching a business in Swiss partner countries. The SECO Start-up Fund is fully owned by the Swiss Confederation and consitutes an instrument of the Swiss Economic Cooperation and Development programme.

SIPPO Import Promotion Programme

The SIPPO Program 2017-20 will follow a strong development agenda. The 'strategic sourcing' of goods and services coming from developing countries will be the 'mirror effect' of the products and services offered. The Program will further develop its 'Last Mile' competences and integrating SIPPO’s 'Last Mile' expertise into SECO’s trade development value chain programs.

Warehouse Receipts System

Lack of access to finance is a key constraint for small and medium enterprises in Ghana to growth and job creation. The agricultural sector is underserved by financial institutions due to perceived risks and missing securities. Strengthening the Warehouse Receipts System will help to address this.

Indonesian Bus Rapid Transit Development Project

The Indonesian Bus Rapid Transit Corridor Development Project (INDOBUS) managed by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) assists Indonesian municipalities in developing bus rapid transit corridors as a backbone for sustainable urban mobility systems. It entails technical assistance and capacity-building for cities and ministries to foster the implementation of bus based mass public transport in medium-sized cities.

Cities and Climate Change in Africa (CICLIA)

Cities and Climate Change in Africa (CICLIA) is a program managed by the Agence française de Développement for preparation of climate change mitigation and adaptation projects in Sub-Sahara Africa cities. CICLIA proposes to bridge the existing gap between policy-making and actual financing and implementation of low-carbon infrastructure projects.

Integral Development of Urban Water and Sanitation Utilities in Colombia

Urban water and sanitation utilities in Colombia face problems regarding service quality and financial sustainability. The Program will support 10 utilities in assessing their performance through a standardized tool, and on this basis, formulate and implement measures to improve their performance and reach a better service quality.

The issue of technology transfer has been a cornerstone of the Climate Convention since its establishment in 1992.

Sustainable Cities in Colombia and Peru

The private sector can be a source of urban infrastructure financing to close the growing infrastructure gap in Latin America. The IFC LAC Sustainable Cities Program will provide advisory services to support selected cities in attracting the private sector to develop a pool of implementable and bankable high impact infrastructure projects.

PE Support to the National Public Finance Management Reform (2nd phase)

Between 2011 and 2016, SECO has provided bilateral support to the Peruvian Ministry of Economy and Finance and to other PFM relevant institutions, which allowed important improvements through funding specific short and medium-term projects. The second phase of the program will consolidate these achievements.
