African Forests, People and Climate Change – Phase II

The impacts of climate change are posing a major threat to the future development in Sub-Saharan Africa. Improved capacities and knowledge about the forest-climate change nexus is crucial to make sure that the full potential of African forests and trees is mobilized for adapting to climate change and mitigating the adverse effects in the different ecosystems in ways that enhance livelihoods, sustain biodiversity, and improve the quality of the environment.

Programme d’Appui à l’Education non formelle

Classé 22ème sur 28 pays par l’indice de l’éducation pour tous au niveau africain, le Mali compte plus de 60% d’adultes analphabètes dont les 2/3 sont des femmes et environ 70% des jeunes de 15 à 24 ans ne savent ni lire, ni écrire, selon l’UNESCO. Ce programme permet de former et d’insérer plus de 10'000 jeunes et des adultes. Les résultats des nouvelles approches pédagogiques obtenus par le programme sont partagés au niveau central en vue de leur mise à l’échelle.

Unité engagiert sich für die Personelle Entwicklungszusammenarbeit als eine Form der internationalen Zusammenarbeit, bei der nicht Geld oder Technologie im Vordergrund stehen, sondern Begegnung, Austausch und gemeinsames Lernen zwischen Menschen im Norden und im Süden (wie auch im Osten). Daneben setzt sich Unité für die Sensibilisierung der Öffentlichkeit in Nord-Süd-Fragen und in Belangen der Personellen Entwicklungszusammenarbeit ein.

Since access to quality health care services remains a key factor for good health, the SRC promotes both supply and demand side of local health systems. As healthy living also depends on the environment, SRC focuses on health determinants such as water, sanitation, nutrition and health literacy. Adressing risks and disasters, SRC programmes encompass disaster risk reduction measures and foster community resilience.

The program of IAMANEH Switzerland addresses women and children in Western Africa and the Western Balkans in order to secure their access to quality primary health services, to grant safe motherhood and birth, to offer protection and safety from violence and health damaging practices and to allow informed choice with regard to family planning and prevention. Advocacy work contributes to the improvement of frame conditions for health and the securing of a sustainable health and social protection system in these regions.

La FOSIT, organisation faîtière qui compte 68 ONG membres, a fait de la formation et de l’information ses axes de travail privilégiés, afin de promouvoir des projets de qualité et un regard critique sur les enjeux globaux. Un pont qui relie spécialistes et bénévoles et qui met en communication le public de la Suisse italienne avec les pays du Sud et de l’Est, la FOSIT est devenue un interlocuteur reconnu en matière de coopération internationale au développement pour les collectivités publiques locales, car garant de qualité et lieu d’échange et de débat.

WFP - Food Aid Swiss Dairy Products (Nicaragua)

Through the usage of food aid in the form of Swiss dairy products, Swiss Humanitarian Aid contributes to the prevention and treatment of malnutrition, undernourishment, and disease. The SDC’s Humanitarian Aid administers the credit granted by parliament for a yearly amount of some CHF 20 million destined for the purchase of Swiss dairy products and their use for the benefit of the needy. Its task is to ensure a sustainable, targeted, and closely monitored food aid.

Programme d’appui à la Modernisation des Exploitations Familiales (PAMEFA)

Au Burkina Faso, les activités agricoles constituent la principale source d’emploi et de revenu pour 86% de la population active[1]. Elles s’organisent essentiellement autour des familles, qui fournissent la main d’œuvre (entre 3 et 10 actifs), en majorité féminine. Ces exploitations familiales, du fait de leur faible productivité, n’assurent pas la sécurité alimentaire du pays de manière durable et ne procurent pas suffisamment de revenus aux ruraux. Le présent programme vise la modernisation de ces exploitations familiales pour qu’elles satisfassent mieux les besoins d’une population dont la croissance est de 3% l’an.
