Contribution to the UNICEF Emergency response Humanitarian Action for Children 2025 to 2026

Switzerland supports UNICEF’s emergency intervention in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. UNICEF provides life-saving support in water, sanitation and hygiene, health, nutrition, education, child protection, social protection at the benefit of crises affected children and their caregivers. The contribution includes the amount provided as part of the Federal Council’s decision from 26 November 2025 to grant CHF 23 million to support the “Gaza Peace Plan” of the United States.

The project aims at capacitating governments and mobilizing civil society to foster a better food environment and address the double burden of malnutrition through integrated regulatory and policy actions, based on scientific data. By the end of the project, additional global monitoring data and evidence from pilot countries will inform the design of regulatory and fiscal measures to promote healthy diets and increased physical activity for the prevention of non-communicable diseases.
SSD: Caritas Switzerland, Strengthening Market Actors and Communities (SMAC) in Central and Eastern Equatoria

The project, implemented by Caritas Switzerland, aims at unlocking the potential of agriculture by facilitating market driven solutions to enhance productivity, and promote inclusive growth in Central and Eastern Equatoria States of South Sudan. It targets food value chains (cereal, honey, horticulture) by strengthening producer capacities, promoting enabling policies and facilitating private sector engagement.
OPT- GAZA: Evacuation of warwounded children and their families from Gaza

The intervention aims to evacuate 20 war-wounded children from Gaza to Switzerland for medical treatment as well as their family members. The focus is to ensure specialized medical care and protection for the most vulnerable victims of the conflict. Relevance lies in responding to the acute humanitarian crisis and the collapse of Gaza’s health system. The initiative highlights Switzerland’s humanitarian tradition and commitment to international solidarity. In addition to four Federal Departments of the Swiss Confederation, the key partners are: WHO, MSF-Switzerland, Rega, and the Swiss Air Force.

This project improves access to essential services in vulnerable communities in Venezuela, while also helping people prepare for the future by strengthening resilience and social cohesion. With the most recent geophysical disaster, Afghanistan is facing a dual humanitarian crisis. A 6.0-magnitude earthquake in eastern provinces has left over 500,000 people in urgent need, while refugee returns from Pakistan have surged to more than 100,000 in early September alone—many to earthquake-affected areas. Humanitarian resources are overstretched as UNHCR and other agencies work to deliver life-saving assistance, protection, and reintegration support.
Local Solutions for Disaster Risk Reduction in Latin America and the Caribbean

The initiative seeks to build disaster and climate resilience in 16 cities across 8 Latin American and Caribbean targeted countries. Co-designed by UN-Habitat and SDC’s Regional Hub Lima, it focuses on inclusive, risk-informed municipal planning and community-led solutions. Aligned with national priorities, the initiative fosters multi-stakeholder participation and collaboration to protect lives and promote resilient, locally owned urban development.
Strengthening Livelihoods and Social Inclusion in Georgia’s Forest Sector Reform

Since 2020, Switzerland has supported Georgia’s Forest Sector Reform (FSR), led by the Georgian Government with co-financing from the Green Climate Fund (GCF) and Germany. In this final phase, Switzerland will continue its contribution to address decades of forest overuse and weak governance that left ecosystems degraded. Priorities include municipal forest management, stronger forestry education, and sustainable, inclusive value chains. Swiss expertise will promote quality standards, innovation, and research.
Projet Résilience alimentaire des personnes déplacées internes (ProRes), phase unique

Au Burkina Faso, plus de 2 millions de personnes, majoritairement des femmes et des enfants, sont déplacées à cause du conflit. Ces personnes vivent dans une grande vulnérabilité, avec un accès limité aux ressources essentielles. La Suisse et l’Allemagne unissent leurs efforts pour soutenir 84 000 déplacés internes. Leur appui vise la reconstitution durable des moyens d’existence. L’intervention promeut un accès équitable à la terre, à l’eau et à la forêt dans un cadre apaisé.
Healthcare for Rohingya and host communities – CoxCare

The intervention promotes resilience, preparedness, and continuity of locally led healthcare amidst rising humanitarian needs and declining funding. Safe childbirth services, sexual and gender-based violence response, and access to dignified, gender-sensitive healthcare are a prime focus. The project will contribute to strengthening access to healthcare for Rohingya refugees as well as for host communities in Cox’s Bazar, who face systemic marginalisation and limited services.
Empowering Futures: Enhancing Skills and Resilience for Afghan and Host Community Adolescents and Female Heads of Households in Iran
