Hintergrund |
Today access to finance is still one of the largest obstacle to growth for micro, small and medium enterprises alike, particularly in frontier and emerging economies. They predominately depend on self-financing or informal sources of financing, as mainstream commercial banks and financial institutions continue to underserve their needs. Recent figures indicate that the estimated shortage of capital for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) is in excess of USD 2 trillion worldwide. However, the ability of MSMEs to grow and foster job creation is often limited by regulatory hurdles and their ability to find adequate finance. |
Ziele |
The Fund’s core strategy is to capture the financial and social value creation from financial institutions active at the base of the pyramid, in low and middle income economies, working with small and medium enterprises. By pursuing this strategy, the Fund aims at supporting financial institutions to grow with their clients thereby fostering job creation, employment and entrepreneurship. |
