World Congress on Juvenile Justice

State and civil society representatives are invited to attend the World Congress on Juvenile Justice which will take place in Geneva, Switzerland from 26 to 30 January 2015. The aim of the Congress is to work together to take a decisive step forward in the implementation of child rights and international norms in relation to juvenile justice. The Congress is hosted by the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with the Swiss Federal Office of Justice and the non-governmental organisation Terre des hommes.

"(...) The Congress has been acknowledged by the United Nations General Assembly:
[The General Assembly] “Encourages continued regional and cross-regional efforts, the sharing of best practices and the provision of technical assistance in the field of juvenile justice and notes in this regard the initiative to convene a world congress on juvenile justice in Geneva from 26 to 30 January 2015;” (Resolution 68/147 on 18.12.2013, Rights of the child).

The Congress has likewise been acknowledged by the Human Rights Council (Resolution A/HRC/24/12 on 26.9.2013) and was the subject of a Diplomatic Note from the Permanent Mission of Switzerland to the UN in Geneva to all Permanent Representatives on 13 August 2013."
