The section is responsible for personnel management within the Swiss Humanitarian Aid Unit (SHA). SHA operates on the militia principle and has approximately 640 members. The section's work primarily entails the recruitment, training, and deployment of members of this pool of experts.
In the event of natural disasters, the section is required to identify and mobilise SHA experts at short notice for deployment to disaster-struck areas. This kind of deployment is carried out by Swiss Rescue or other rapid response teams. In addition to emergencies, the section also manages human resources processes for medium- and long-term missions in fragile regions.
This involves both the Swiss Humanitarian Aid's direct actions and missions to support UN partners.
