Availability and transparency of data has become more and more crucial in the past decade, and the context of the Agenda 2030 has even sharpened the need for more and better data. Created in 2008, IATI has become a reference standard, with more than 1000 organisations publishing their data by means of a central global registry. The visibility of IATI data[1] has increased sharply in recent years, allowing development stakeholders to collaborate and identify relevant, effective and evidence-based interventions. Switzerland has expressed its commitment to transparency in various occasions such as the Busan Partnership for Effective Development Co-operation. Lately, SDC has been active in collaborating with various committees that deal with data: OECD, Paris21, GPEDC, and has even grown more visible as co-organiser of the World Data Forum in Bern. This adhesion to IATI is coherent with SDC’s transparency policy. It meets expectations expressed by Swiss to produce more accessible and transparent data on Swiss international cooperation and to make a wider use of the IATI standard in the federal administration. It is also in line with the priorities given to digitalisation and to the use of scientific data as defined in the Dispatch 2021-2024 and with the Open Government Data strategy 2019-2023 adopted by the Federal Council. SDC will engage as active member to improve the performance and outreach of IATI. [1] The term IATI data used in the credit proposal is referring to the data published (in xml files) according to the IATI standard in a central registry, |
Objetivos | The overall goal is the achievement of sustainable development goals through the publication and use of good quality data on development resources, activities, pledges and results. By connecting humanitarian and development actors through a standardized data system, their financial flows, policies, programs and results are made more visible. Through this transparency effort, more effective partnerships as well as local ownership can be built improving decisions around and management of international development efforts. |
