Urban Planning and Mobility Training Partnership


This partnership between the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs, the French Agency for Development, Urbaplan and Transitec aims at training decision makers and middle management from state institutions in developing countries in urban planning and urban mobility planning through operations oriented trainings in Lausanne and Marseille.

Contexto

Cities in developing countries are growing at an unprecedented rate, and many of them experience rapid growth of motorized transportation. It is thus key to strengthen the capacities of public decision makers and administrative staff to address urban planning and transport issues in a joint manner so as to improve citizens’ accessibility to jobs, services and goods within the urban perimeter.

Objetivos

Participants’ capacities in using instruments of strategic urban planning improved.

Efectos a medio plazo

Decision makers and staff in charge of urban planning are aware of the major urban development challenges and of their cross-sectoral nature

Participants understand the need to tackle spatial and mobility issues together

Participants understand the framework conditions required to develop multi-modal mobility systems

Participants know the specificities of urban planning instruments and know how to articulate instruments and regulations related to spatial planning and to urban mobility planning

Resultados

Resultados previstos:  

Over 100 participants coming from developing countries complete two-weeks trainings (3 training sessions in French and 2 training sessions in English)

Trainings combine presentations, practical exercises, sharing of experiences, as well as field visit to projects in Lausanne and Marseille
