A toolbox for sustainable self-reliance

Haiti has been repeatedly devastated by earthquakes and hurricanes in recent years. SDC engineers are now working with those affected to build more stable houses from local materials. Five hundred new homes are to be built by 2021.

Education d'urgence et protection de l'enfance au Nord Kivu

Le territoire de Béni, au Nord-Kivu, est caractérisé par une importante instabilité politique et sécuritaire. Effets directs de cette situation, les déplacements de populations se comptent par dizaines de milliers chaque année, le taux de déscolarisation dans la zone ciblée dépasse 60% et les enfants sont exposés à de multiples abus. Ce projet fournit un appui de protection de l’enfance en urgence à travers des activités éducatives et de protection.

FORMIFormation Insertion des jeunes au Tchad

Au Tchad, le système de l’enseignement technique et de la formation professionnelle (ETFP) ne répond ni à la demande du monde du travail, ni à la demande sociale. En s’appuyant sur des dynamiques existantes, notamment privées, la DDC contribuera durant cette phase de planification à la diversification d’une offre de formation de proximité adaptée aux contextes et répondant efficacement aux besoins de développement personnel des jeunes et des femmes en particulier et aux besoins d’une économie locale.

UN CC:Learn – The One UN Climate Change Learning Partnership

UN CC:Learn is a partnership of 36 multilateral organizations which supports Member States in designing and implementing results-oriented and sustainable learning to address climate change. The Secretariat for UN CC:Learn is provided by the UN Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR). UN CC:Learn supports countries in developing National Strategies to strengthen human resources and skills to climate resilient development and promotes learning materials including massive open online courses on climate change.

COOPI: Renforcement des services spécialisés de protection à Diffa

La région de Diffa est confrontée à une crise sécuritaire et de déplacement massif liée aux activités du groupe terroriste de Boko Haram. Les populations affectées sont exposées sont exposées à des risques liés à l'absence de protection. A travers ce projet, la Suisse soutient une réponse aux besoins de protection avec focus sur l'appui psychosocial, la santé mentale, les violences basées sur le genre (VBG) et la protection de l'enfance.

South Sudan, Concern Worldwide: NGO Forum Support

This is the fourth phase of support to the NGO-Forum in South Sudan, aiming at contributing to the effectiveness and coordination of emergency humanitarian response and development programming in South Sudan. This will be achieved through sustained and enhanced engagement with all stakeholders on issues affecting NGO operations, advocacy, capacity building and information sharing.

IRC : Consolidation de l’environnement protecteur à Diffa au Niger

Les populations affectées sont exposées à des risques de protection. Par ce co-financement, la Suisse contribue à des mécanismes de protection communautaire renforcés qui permettent l’identification et le référencement des cas de protection et la consolidation d’un environnement protecteur.

Support to Municipal Development Project (MDP-3)

Since 2009, the Municipal Development Project (MDP) has been the main vehicle for policy reform in the Local Governance sector in the oPt. It has channelled funding to Municipalities to support infrastructure projects and capacity-building activities in a transparent and equitable manner, despite huge challenges linked to 50 years of Israeli Occupation and to 10 years of intra-Palestinian divide. MDP-3 (2017-2021) is supported by 7 donors and the Palestinian Authority: SDC’s contribution is in line with Swiss Cooperation Strategy for the oPt (2015-2018).

International Land Coalition (ILC)

Through a core contribution to the International Land Coalition, SDC supports a global network of 207 members in 64 countries in which civil society, intergovernmental organisations and academic institutions interact to trigger changes in policies and practices at country level toward a land governance putting people at its centre. With a targeted additional support to the Land Matrix, SDC contributes to an independent monitoring initiative on large scale land deals, promoting transparency and accountability.

International Centre for Asset Recovery (ICAR): Phase VI of core contribution (2017-2020)

The International Centre for Asset Recovery (ICAR) is an independent not-for-profit competence centre in asset recovery with a mission of supporting affected developing countries to investigate and prosecute financial crimes with the ultimate goal of recovering stolen public assets. Due to the growing demand by developing coun¬tries for support in asset recovery cases and ICAR’s proven track record as a strategic partner to the Swiss Govern¬ment, SDC has funded ICAR since 2006 with a core contribution. ICAR is part of the Basel Institute on Governance.

IRQ Oxfam – Integrated WASH and Protection response to conflict affected communities in Diyala governorate

A majority of people living in rural northern Diyala do not have access to potable water which results in communities utilizing unsafe sources like rivers and irrigation channels. The lack of solid waste management systems further aggravates the poor health conditions within this area. This project aims at reducing water and sanitation related risks and increasing access to clean water for IDPs, returnees and host communities living in the districts of Kifri and Khanaqin. It also helps particularly vulnerable families access protection services.

Ayuda de emergencia en la región de los Kasais, en la República Democrática del Congo

El conflicto que asola la región de los Kasais desde agosto de 2016 se ha añadido a las múltiples crisis que existen en la República Democrática del Congo, ha provocado el desplazamiento de más de 1,4 millones de personas y ha sumido a 3 millones en situación de inseguridad alimentaria. La ayuda humanitaria de la COSUDE ha ampliado su acción a esta región donde la ayuda de emergencia sigue siendo casi inexistente. La intervención tiene como objetivo cubrir las necesidades básicas de las poblaciones afectadas.
