Township Democratic Local Governance (TDLG)

In Mon State, with a traditionally strong Swiss presence, the project promotes a participatory, inclusive and transparent process around development grants, in order to improve the delivery of basic services at Township and village levels. Together with the state’s authorities, with the aim of including the governance structures of the Ethnic Armed Groups, the living conditions and space for democracy for the local people in ten Townships should improve with tangible development results.

Palestinian Population, Housing, and Establishment Census 2017

SDC will support the realisation of the third Palestinian Population, Housing, and Establishment Census in 2017 through a targeted contribution to the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS). This project is co-financed by the Palestinian Authority and by a range of donors which acknowledge thereby the need to conduct a national census on a regular basis (every ten years) to produce reliable development data and statistics that support the design and implementation of effective policies conducive to reaching the goals of Agenda 2030 (Sustainable Development Goals). Such data are even more important in fragile contexts, such as the oPt.

UN-Water: Strengthening the Global Water Architecture for the effective achievement of the 2030 Agenda

The role of UN-Water is to coordinate the UN system’s action on all water related issues, including sanitation. Therefore, UN-Water is key to bring a more effective, integrated and coordinated approach to support the implementation of the 2030 Agenda with regards to water and sanitation. SDC’s support as core contribution is crucial to ensure that the political ambition of the 2030 Agenda for water has an efficient institutional setting.

RDC, Alliance Globale du Vaccin (GAVI): Approvisionnement en médicaments

La contribution ciblée à GAVI présentée dans cette proposition de crédit est la mise en pratique de la stratégie de coopération : elle vise non seulement l’appui stratégique et vital du circuit des médicaments et vaccins en RDC, en particulier au Sud-Kivu, mais convole aussi l’agenda du programme global Santé, du travail diplomatique de la représentation Suisse à Kinshasa et du programme de la coopération Sud.

Social lnclusion and lmprovement of Living Conditions for Roma and other Vulnerable Groups in Serbia

This project, being a part of the broad HEKS-EHO program, defines an innovative approach to tackle access to quality education and improving of housing conditions of Roma. Through the dweller driven housing model, the project is upgrading the substandard Roma settlements, providing better living conditions for Roma. By institutionalisation of Roma teacher‘s assistants in education, it assists in enrollment and higher attainment of Roma pupils and skills increase of Roma adults, contributing to a more sustainable integration of Roma.

Pakistan: ADB, National Disaster Risk Management Fund (NDRMF)

Pakistan faces significant disaster risk and lacks institutional capacity and finance to tackle it. The National Disaster Risk Management Fund will enhance resilience of vulnerable communities, especially in KP and FATA, to natural hazards and will strengthen institutional capacity of authorities to disaster prevention, mitigation and preparedness. This will reduce socio-economic vulnerability of the people to natural hazards and ultimately poverty.

Safeguarding children’s rights in East Jerusalem

By supporting a comprehensive child protection programme in occupied East Jerusalem, Switzerland aims to ensure that vulnerable children at risk of being in conflict with the law or directly affected by the conflict, together with their families, have access to appropriate preventive and protection programmes. The intervention, implemented by UNICEF and its partners, is in line with Switzerland's engagement for the respect of human rights and international humanitarian law in the occupied Palestinian territory.

Support to International Women’s Right Action Watch Asia Pacific (IWRAW), Phase 2

Despite many advances in the law and policy environment towards recognition of gender equality and new mechanisms for promotion and protection of women’s human rights, women worldwide still experience multiple forms of discrimination. SDC supports the International Women’s Rights Action Watch (IWRAW) Asia Pacific, which is an international non-governmental organisation working nationally, regionally, and internationally towards the achievement of women's human rights.

UN Global Compact Core Contribution 2017 - 2020

The United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) is the largest corporate responsibility platform worldwide, and one of the most successful UN-Private Sector partnerships. Switzerland has been a major supporter of the UNGC from its inception and, with this seventh phase core contribution, is supporting the implementation of the UNGC’s 2017-2020 strategy – called the 2020 Strategy – which has the overarching objective of mobilizing a global movement of responsible companies and organizations to create a better world.

Contribution to UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women

Switzerland is renewing its contribution to the system-wide United Nations Trust Fund to End Violence against Women (UNTF). As the only global multilateral grant-making mechanism exclusively devoted to supporting local and national efforts to ending violence against women and girls (EVAW/G), including in fragile and conflict contexts, the UNTF has the advantage to possess a global overview of the legal provisions and practices, methods of prevention and types of support services needed. Dissemination of good practice will be strengthened to inform policy and programming.

Phasing out - Enhancing Youth Employability in the Gaza Strip –Phase II

The project aims at supporting the development of the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector in Gaza responding to the labour market needs and aligning to the national TVET strategy in order to improve youth employability. This second and final phase will focus on consolidating the achievements of phase one through the institutionalization of the Centre of Competence concept, enhanced involvement of the private sector and systematic technical cooperation between West Bank and Gaza and among stakeholders active in the TVET sector in Gaza.
