This contribution aims at supporting the Regional Refugee Response Plan and Government of Egypt’s combined efforts to respond to the arrival of refugees in the aftermath of the outbreak of conflict on the 15.4.2023 in Sudan. UNHCR’s emergency response focuses on the identification and reception of the most vulnerable new arrivals at prioritized points of entry, with the provision of life-saving support and specialized protection services.

Protection is one of the four priority areas of SDC’s Humanitarian Aid in line with the International Cooperation Strategy 2025-2028. To reduce the Protection risks of vulnerable people, this project will improve both the prevention of violations and the response thereto. It will do so by championing International Humanitarian Law, capacitating Protection-mandated partners to deliver safe, accountable and inclusive services, and by supporting humanitarian actors and the humanitarian system to ensure all humanitarian action enhances the safety and security of affected populations.
