Small and marginal farmers in Nepal, especially women and children, are regularly exposed to malnutrition and are vulnerable to external shocks such as health risks and natural hazards. Home garden aims to improve family nutrition and reduce vulnerability of such individuals and households. Objectives are to diversify dietary sources of disadvantaged groups in homestead for family consumption and increase capacity for adaptation to natural hazards and climate change. The project strengthens the safety net and the coping strategy of the most vulnerable in Nepal.

Moldova - Making the Most of Migration

Moldova pays great social costs as a result of high outward migration. The potential benefits of migration remain underexploited. Migrants are not involved in the development of their home communities, they do not have access to trusted investment opportunities, and the private sector fails to develop tailor-made products and services for migrants. Switzerland supports Moldova in creating a favorable environment for leveraging migrants' human and financial capital for the development of their home country.

Through the usage of food aid in the form of Swiss dairy products, Swiss Humanitarian Aid contributes to the prevention and treatment of malnutrition, undernourishment, and disease. The SDC’s Humanitarian Aid administers the credit granted by parliament for a yearly amount of some CHF 20 million destined for the purchase of Swiss dairy products and their use for the benefit of the needy. Its task is to ensure a sustainable, targeted, and closely monitored food aid.

Die REPIC (Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Promotion in International Cooperation) Plattform zur Förderung der erneuerbaren Energien und Energieeffizienz in der internationalen Zusammenarbeit ist eine gemeinsame Initiative des Staatssekretariates für Wirtschaft (SECO), der Direktion für Entwicklung und Zusammenarbeit (DEZA), und des Bundesamtes für Energie (BFE) und leistet einen wichtigen Beitrag zur Schaffung einer kohärenten Politik und Strategie der Schweiz zur Förderung der erneuerbaren Energien und Energieeffizienz in der internationalen Zusammenarbeit. REPIC ermöglicht die Unterstützung von Bottom-Up Pilotprojekten aus der Privatwirtschaft, der Zivilgesellschaft und Akademie.

Le marché du travail au Mali est caractérisé par une main d’œuvre peu qualifiée. Dans ce contexte, 300'000 jeunes arrivent chaque année sur ce marché sans compétences. L’offre de formation par domaine et/ou filière est en deçà des attentes du secteur productif. La formation professionnelle e 40'000 personnes dont 50% de femmes à l’horizon 2017, améliore la qualité des ouvrages et augmente la compétitivité des entreprises en contribuant à l’augmentation des revenus dans les régions prioritaires de la DDC et de la coopération danoise.

La última fase del proyecto “Aire Limpio” contribuye a la mitigación de los efectos del cambio climático y al mejoramiento de la calidad de vida de la población. Se estima que gracias a las medidas en las 12 ciudades más grandes de Bolivia que albergan el 88% de todo el parque automotor del país, las emisiones de CO2 se reducirán en aproximadamente 130.000 toneladas por año.

In line with the Good Humanitarian Donorship (GHD) principles, Switzerland recognizes the necessity of predictable and flexible funding to respond to changing needs in humanitarian crises. SDC funding to WFP operations allows the World Food Programme (WFP) to respond proactively and to provide immediate food assistance in life-threatening situations and underfunded emergencies. This allocation responds to the acute humanitarian needs created by the July August 2014 conflict in Gaza.
