ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT PROJECT

Due to an accelerated urbanization process, Bolivia is facing very strong environmental problems. Poor management of large amounts of sewage and garbage are affecting the health of the population in intermediary cities. In the next 4 years, solid waste management SWM and wastewater treatment WWT will be comprehensively addressed, providing adequate infrastructure, enhancing local capacities, and promoting civil society’s participation in 20 municipalities, reducing pollution and improving the health of 240.000 people.

Kantha Bopha Hospitals Cambodia

The Kantha Bopha Hospitals in Cambodia treat 80% of severely ill children in Cambodia on an inpatient and an outpatient basis. It offers quality health care free of charge and trains Cambodian doctors as part of their university training program with 6 months internships. The KBH are usually the first ones to detect and signal epidemics which can be tackled early by health authorities. The KBH are a major partner of the Cambodian public health system.

Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Development in Rural Areas (PYMERURAL)

Inclusive value chain development became a public policy priority in both Nicaragua and Honduras. PYMERURAL has been supporting institutions at national and local level to achieve greater competitiveness of micro, small and medium enterprises through local economic and value chain development (increased access to market opportunities, to services, improved regulatory and governance conditions). This short exit phase aims to further consolidate and scale up achievements.

D’autres acteurs comme le secteur privé, la recherche où les agences de coopération en profitent aussi. Ces données sont relevées par les recensements généraux qui se déroulent d’habitude tous les 10 ans. Le présent projet vient en soutien au gouvernement du Bénin dans la réalisation de son 4ème Recensement général de la population et de l’habitation 2012.

Together for Empowerment

The project aims to improve access to education and health of over 25’000 people belonging to rural communities situated in three counties in the south west of Romania: Dolj, Olt and Gorj. The communities include vulnerable populations, mainly of Roma origin. The project is part of the thematic fund for inclusion of Roma and other vulnerable groups in Romania. Lugano Summer School - Support for health professionals and managers from Low- and Middle-Income Countries with a SOC health focus

Therefore the goal of the of the Lugano Summer School is to strengthen and sustain the capacity of health professionals in selected low and middle income countries to manage, develop and promote health services and health systems at conceptual, strategic, and operational levels.

The right to health of Palestinians living in the occupied Palestinian territory is severely hindered by the occupation practices imposed by the Israeli government. SDC support to WHO Advocacy Unit in the oPt enables the organization to pursue its evidence-based advocacy efforts to ensure increased compliance of duty bearers with their obligations under international law. The intervention focuses on areas with limited Palestinian Authority (PA) jurisdiction (Area C and East Jerusalem), or with limited effective PA authority as in Gaza Strip.

Energy Efficiency Program in Artisanal Brick Kilns in Latin America to Mitigate Climate Change – Phase II

Energy Efficiency Program's in Artisanal Brick Kilns in Latin America to Mitigate Climate Change (EELA) second phase will focus on making the market work for energy-efficient technologies and innovations developed and tested at pilot level during the first phase. The applied systemic approach allows both the scaling up of these innovations and influencing public policies, so that brick producers can achieve better economic and environmental performance. Experiences and results will further be discussed in the context of the Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC).

Roma Take an Active Role in Improving their Living Conditions

Roma in Serbia live in difficult social and economic conditions. Some 60% of them are categorised as "very poor". In many Roma settlements the people live in cramped conditions with poor infrastructure and inadequate levels of hygiene. The project's objectives are to improve living conditions for Roma in the areas of housing, employment and income, and to guarantee and strengthen their rights.

La descentralización mejora la calidad de vida en Ucrania

Veinte años después de su independencia, Ucrania sigue siendo un país muy centralisado. La Suiza apoya la mejora de los servicios municipales, en particular en el sector del agua. Además, a nivel nacional contribuye a la descentralización con la formulación de nuevas leyes inspiradas por las experiencias hechas en el proyecto DESPRO.
