Switzerland and France have agreed on a solution for taxing income generated while working from home: From 1 January 2023, up to 40 per cent of working time per year can be performed at home without affecting the country of taxation on income from employment – especially for cross-border commuters.

Today in London, Federal Councillor Ueli Maurer met his British counterpart and the UK’s Chancellor of the Exchequer, Jeremy Hunt. The two finance ministers welcomed the progress made in the negotiations on a mutual recognition agreement in the financial sector, and looked forward to its finalisation by the end of summer 2023.

On 31 August 2022, the Federal Council decided to establish an organisational structure to ensure better management of policy and content for Switzerland's exploratory talks with the EU. This consists of a steering group involving all departments and a sounding board with representatives from the cantons, social partners and the business community.

In view of Russia’s continuing military intervention in Ukraine, the Federal Council took the decision to adopt the packages of sanctions imposed by the EU on 23 and 25 February. Switzerland reaffirms its solidarity with Ukraine and its people; it will be delivering relief supplies for people who have fled to Poland.
