As a founding member and major donor country Switzerland actively participates in the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), with a special focus on promoting efficiency and environmental sustainability in manufacturing and trade capacity building.

Switzerland is a founding member of UNIDO and is one of its most important donor states (ranked third on average in the last 20 years). It particularly supports UNIDO’s work in the fields of industrial efficiency (cleaner production) and trade capacity building.  Switzerland is a member of the Industrial Development Board (IDB), UNIDO’s principal governing body, as well as of its Programme and Budget Committee (PBC).
