If the document is to be submitted to a foreign authority abroad, please enquire with the foreign authority as to whether legalisation is required. If so, you must ensure that the cantonal authority concerned legalises the Swiss civil status document you are ordering, even if it is legalised by the Swiss representation.
Swiss civil status documents, with the exception of divorce and dissolution of registered civil partnership decrees, can also be ordered through your Swiss representation for an additional fee. To do so, you must pay an advance on the cost when ordering. Delivery will take at least 30 working days.
