24.09.2024 - Developments in the region
All travel to Israel is now generally discouraged. A further deterioration of the already tense situation throughout the country is possible at any time. On 23.09.2024, the Israeli government declared a "Special State of Emergency" for the entire country for seven days. Please follow the FDFA's travel advice and inform yourself about the current situation and follow the instructions of the local authorities. (www.oref.org.il/en - the link only works in Israel).
If you want to leave the country, use the available commercial transportation. Most airlines have reduced or suspended their flights to and from Israel. It must be expected that more airlines will stop their flights to and from Israel. The airport may be temporarily closed.
The FDFA does not organize the departure of Swiss nationals. The decision to leave a crisis region is made voluntarily, at the traveler’s own risk and expense. Information on flight connections is provided by the airlines. Swiss nationals wishing to leave the country are therefore advised to contact the airlines and tour operators for information on departure options.
The Swiss Embassy in Tel Aviv is open and continues to provide its usual services. However, in the event of a deterioration of the situation, this Embassy has only very limited possibilities to provide emergency assistance.
In order to ensure communication, it is important that you keep your contact and travel details up to date in the Travel Admin App or with the Swiss representation you are registered with. In an emergency, please contact the FDFA helpline: +41 800 24 7 365 or 0 800 24 7 365.
