Junior National Programme Officer (Full-time position, 100%, 12 months)
The Swiss Cooperation Office in Tajikistan is the diplomatic international development organization working in the frames of the bilateral cooperation agreement between the Government of Switzerland and the Government of Tajikistan ratified in 1999. The organization provides financial, technical and expert support to the Government of Tajikistan in the spheres of legal, economic and infrastructural reforms and the humanitarian assistance.
The objective of the position is to support and backstop the Swiss funded projects in Tajikistan in the fields of climate change, environment and disaster risk reduction. Specifically, support to be provided with implementation of the flagship interdisciplinary research programme of the Swiss Polar Institute (SPI) titled PAMIR (2022-2026) on studying the cryosphere, as well as its impacts on ecosystems, hazards and water resources. Additionally, to support the SCO in the context of the International Year of Glaciers’ Preservation 2025 (IYGP) and International Conference on Glaciers Preservation in Dushanbe in May 2025 (ICGP).
Main responsibilities:
- Support with implementation of the activities under the Swiss Polar Institute’ research program PAMIR;
- Assist with implementation and outreach activities of the Swiss-Tajik collaborative projects in the areas of climate change, environment and disaster risk reduction, particularly in relation to the IYGP and ICGP 2025 (arranging high-level events, courses, exhibitions, documents translation or production).
- Provide strong logistics support: fieldwork permits, customs clearance and visa applications;
- Translation of outreach material and interpreter support at conferences, workshops, meetings. Preparation of minutes and summary of meetings;
- Maintain regular contacts with donor agencies, state and the civil society partners in the respected sector;
- Provide timely and quality reports on the results achieved or upon a specific request to Director of the SCO.
Reporting to:
Country Director of the Swiss Cooperation Office in Dushanbe.
Basic requirements:
- University degree in international relations, social/environmental sciences, business administration;
- Five years of professional and practical knowledge in the relevant field of activity;
- Broad network for event management and an expanded pool of experts (climate change/environment);
- Prominent logistics experiences: fieldwork permits, customs clearance, visa applications etc.;
- Profound knowledge of English, Tajik, and Russian languages;
- Ability to work independently, reliability, discreetness, efficiency;
- Good organizational, networking and communication skills;
- Advanced computer skills (Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook).
