Background |
Wiwanana started as a community mobilization project in 1999 implemented by Solidarmed in Cabo Delgado. By mid-2013 Wiwanana became an independent organization, therefore institutional development also became a priority. Despite the progress in both areas, the period of implementation was not yet enough to ensure that it was established as a robust local organization. Fortunately, the start of the current phase coincides with implementation of the Strategic Plan and the emergence of two additional funding partners (UNFPA and CUAMM), with Solidarmed committed to continuing its support to the organization. The new project with UNFPA, will allow Wiwanana to expand its intervention from 2 Districts (Chiure, Ancuabe), to 4 (also Namuno and Balama). |
