Swiss Federal Councillor and Foreign Minister Didier Burkhalter participated at the 2015 Shangri-La Dialogue, May 29-31. It was the first time that Switzerland attended officially this important Asia Security Summit. Mr Burkhalter gave an address at the special session themed "Avoiding Military Competition and Arms-Racing in Asia", emphasising the key importance of confidence-building measures and multilateral cooperation to help addressing tensions in Asia.
Mr Bukhalter also had two meetings with Singaporean leaders during his stay: with Prime Minister Lee Hsieng Loong, and Minister for Foreign Affairs K. Shanmugam. They discussed the excellent and intensive bilateral relations between Switzerland and Singapore and agreed to further enhance this cooperation.
