New Coronavirus (COVID-19)

The Swiss Embassy in Uruguay is monitoring the evolution of the Coronavirus pandemic closely. Borders are partially closed. It is rather difficult to book a flight to Switzerland (transiting through third countries) at this point, as most flights have been cancelled. The border to Argentina (land, sea and air) is shut, while the border to Brasil is partially shut.


General information

The Embassy urges the Swiss community in Uruguay to follow recommendations and guidelines given out by local authorities for the prevention and treatment of the coronavirus. In doubt, please refer to the Ministry of Public Health’s website.

In Switzerland, the relevant authority is the Federal Office of Public Health, which provides regular updates on its website regarding the situation in our country. The Embassy also provides regular updates on the measures taken by the Swiss government on its website.

On state level, the Federal Office of Public Health of Switzerland FHPO informs in regards to the Novel Coronavirus and publishes travel advice accordingly.

The Travel Advice FDFA (in German, French and Italian) offers travelers basic information for travel preparation by informing on possible risks and certain precautions. They are to be considered as a complementary source of information.
