Expressing heartfelt gratitude to stakeholders, partners, and contributors, Ambassador Stéphane Rey acknowledged their pivotal role in bringing this ambitious programme to fruition. Notably, he noted that the launch was a success despite Switzerland's absence of a physical presence in the country, a testament to the strength of collaborative efforts.

Welcoming the cooperation between Switzerland and Zambia, Ms. Etambuyu A. Gundersen, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Zambia, stated, "This initiative marks a significant chapter in our diplomatic relations, symbolizing a joint commitment to address critical challenges and foster sustainable development. The collaboration with Switzerland is a testament to the resilience and potential of the Zambian people."

Going beyond traditional development boundaries, the programme is poised to sow the seeds of transformation, empowerment, and prosperity, with a dedicated focus on the well-being of Zambia's women and youth. Its comprehensive approach spans key areas such as food security, healthcare access, social protection, climate change, and governance, reflecting a commitment to fostering sustainable growth.

A distinctive facet of the programme is its strategic partnership with the private sector, acknowledging the pressing need for climate action. Swiss companies operating in Zambia were invited to contribute their unique capacities for innovation, investment, and influence. The programme's design facilitates the convergence of public and private sectors, tapping into diverse expertise and resources to generate solutions that transcend conventional boundaries.

The initiative epitomizes a belief in the power of collaboration, recognizing governments, non-governmental organizations, businesses, and communities as indispensable stakeholders in the journey toward a brighter future. The launch, far more than a mere inauguration, stands as a celebration of unity, hope, and an unwavering belief in the possibility of positive change.

As the programme unfolds, it promises to be a catalyst for a better and brighter future for Zambia. The collaborative efforts between Switzerland and Zambia are poised to address pressing challenges, contribute significantly to sustainable development, and inscribe a new chapter in the nation's history—one characterized by progress, development, and shared success.

Speaking at the same event the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), Mr. Stefano Berti highlighted that the Swiss Cooperation Programme heralds a transformative initiative for Zambia's development, highlighting the paramount importance of collaboration and sustainability in addressing the nation's multifaceted challenges.
