In order to improve the social inclusion of Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian (RAE) in Kosovo, this project will develop their livelihoods through ensuring better access to educational opportunities, enhanced children rights and protection, upgraded housing conditions and more income generation prospects. These multi-sectorial interventions will be complemented with antigypsyism policy interventions that counter discrimination against RAE and foster equality in Kosovo.

The United Nations Volunteer Programme promotes volunteerism across the United Nations and mobilizes volunteers worldwide. SDC finances the placement of young Swiss graduates within SDCs priority multi-lateral organisations. This provides them with invaluable working experience in the multi-lateral system, supports the efforts of the UN system to deliver on the 2030 Agenda and introduces Swiss values into UN-organisations.

BiH Diaspora Platform

Switzerland is host to a significant diaspora from Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), including representatives of all nationalities constituting BiH. Since 2017, the i-platform serves as a bridge-builder among the heterogeneous members of the BiH diaspora in Switzerland and between the two countries, facilitating partnerships, know-how transfer, and investments. Through this exit phase, the i-platform shall gain full financial sustainability and become a meaningful and effective diaspora engagement model for development.

La Suisse soutient l’Ecole Normale Supérieure (ENS) et l’Institut de Formation en Alphabétisation et Education Non Formelle (IFAENF) de Niamey qui vont former 2460 cadres de l’Education en vue d’une meilleure prise en compte de méthodes et approches éducatives innovantes, en bénéficiant de l’expertise suisse dans le domaine.

Implementation Maputo Peace Accord

As chair of the Contact Group, mediator and main donor to the peace process in Mozambique, Switzerland has played a key role so far, leading to the successful Peace Accord (MPA) between the ruling party (Frelimo) and the opposing party (Renamo) in August 2019. It will continue this engagement with the support of the implementation of this Agreement which focusses on Disarmament, Demobilisation, and Reinsertion (DDR) of the ex-combatants and reconciliation and enhanced decentralisation.

COVID19-Prévention et réponse face à l’impact environnemental et épidémiologique

Ce projet soutient les efforts de la Tunisie en réponse à la crise COVID19 et renforce ses capacités de gestion des risques avec une approche plus intégrée et décentralisée. Il adresse essentiellement les risques liés à la gestion de déchets dangereux solides et liquides sanitaires ainsi que les eaux usées. Le partenaire de mise en œuvre est le PNUD, en collaboration avec les Ministères de la santé et des Affaires locales.

Strengthening Livelihoods and Social Inclusion in Georgia's Forest Sector Reform

As part of a comprehensive forest sector reform, the proposed project contribution aims at diversifying livelihood opportunities of target forest dependent communities and at strengthening the local capacities in forest management in a sustainable manner. This is particularly relevant since up to 90% of Georgia’s rural households rely on forests for energy and other purposes, leading to progressive forest degradation. The COVID-19 crisis further aggravates economic hardship of the most vulnerable groups among them.

ENUFF - Enhancing Nutrition of Upland Farming Families

Despite a sustained economic growth of 7.7% over the last decade of Lao PDR, children under five, nationally, 21% are underweight, 33% are stunted and 9% wasted (2017). Based on initial achievements and lessons learned from phase one, Switzerland, with its leave no one behind value, will provide support for a second and final phase to the government’s multi-sectoral approach that integrates agriculture, nutrition, sanitation and hygiene. The geographical scope expands to 20 new remote villages and targets women, men and children.

It is one of the largest global sources of development funding and, combined with the larger World Bank Group (WBG), a unique source of knowledge and key actor providing support to countries to implement the 2030 Agenda. Switzerland contributes to IDA’s replenishments every three years and is a top ten donor. This allows Switzerland to remain an influential member of the WBG. IDA’s priority themes (climate, jobs, fragility, governance, gender) align closely with Swiss development objectives and interests.

Smallholder Safety Net Up-scaling Programme is a multi-donor public private partnership to support small and medium agribusiness enterprises, farmer organisations and financial intermediaries in providing effective services to their smallholder farmer customers and members, thereby reducing their farm and livelihood risks. The programme will lead to higher incomes and more jobs notably for women as well as increased food security, contributing to improved livelihoods of an estimated 3 million smallholder households applying more sustainable farm practices.
