Contribution to OSCE Academy in Kyrgyzstan

After 25 years of gaining independence, the states of Central Asia are still facing the challenge of state-building, economic, political and social transformation. The region needs qualified specialists who can participate actively in the creation of a regional network of competence for comprehensive cooperation. In this context, the OSCE Academy acts as a valuable agent for improving the region‘s social and political climate through its higher education, training and research programs.

Integrated Project for Social Inclusion of Roma and Other Vulnerable Groups in Montana municipality

The goal of the project “Integrated Approach for Inclusion of Roma and other vulnerable Groups in Montana Municipality" is to support the Bulgarian Government to implement the National Strategy for the Integration of Roma in Bulgaria (2012-2020) which aims at improving their living conditions through better access to services and rights for the Roma community and at empowering Roma through strengthened cultural integration and identity, improved acceptance and enhanced Roma participation in decision making/policy institutions.

Rehabiltiation of public schools accomodating Syrian refugee children

Education is one of the public sectors particularly under pressure due to the influx of refugees. There are currently 143,000 school-aged Syrian refugees enrolled in public schools in Jordan, another approx. 83,000 remain out of school. Overstretched infrastructure and lack of space are major challenges. SDC will continue to support the Ministry of Education (MoE) in non-structural rehabilitation of schools accommodating Syrian refugees, including water and sanitation facilities, contributing to increase the accommodating capacities. The project will also include an awareness component addressing maintenance issues.

PRODEL – Programme to strengthen municipal capacities for local development

PRODEL is part of the Cuban decentralization reform process that seeks to build the capacities of local government representatives in local development management and assist them in formulating and implementing Municipal Development Strategies (EDMs) as a tool to maximize local resources and improve local services.

Programme d’Appui à l’Education et à la Formation des Enfants exclus du Système Educatif (PAEFE)

Le Programme d’Appui à l’Education et à la Formation des Enfants Exclus du Système Educatif (PAEFE) vise à appuyer la mise en œuvre d'offres d'éducation et de formation adaptées aux réalités socio-économiques du milieu pour les 9-15 ans exclus du système éducatif formel et susceptibles d'être généralisées ou de servir de modèle au niveau national.

Livelihood Improvement Programme Takhar (LIPT) – Bridging Phase

Widespread poverty and malnutrition, weak institutions and scarce public services characterize the environment in the mountainous areas of North-Eastern Afghanistan. The Livelihood Improvement Programme Takhar (LIPT) is improving the living conditions of the rural population in Rustaq district through income generating activities and the promotion of sustainable natural resource management techniques. This last phase will allow a significant upscaling of the successful initiatives of LIPT.

Los agricultores desplazados por la guerra se crean nuevas oportunidades económicas

Desde hace más de trece años, Sudán se ve asolado por graves conflictos que obligan a la población a huir de sus hogares y destruyen sus fundamentos económicos. La COSUDE apoya un programa de reconstrucción de la ONU en el país que, entre otras cosas, mejora la situación económica de los pequeños agricultores.

Application of Migration Policy for Decent Work of Migrant Workers

Men and women who opt for migrating abroad in search of employment will benefit from better protection (pre-departure orientation, international standard contracts, etc.) as the project will improve the overall migration policy and migration governance framework of Bangladesh. The project will also strengthen institutions responsible for managing migration, by building the capacity of the government and private sector to expand and improve services for migrant workers.

Water Security in the Middle East (Blue Peace)

In the Middle East, the increasingly precarious situation of water resources demands stronger regional cooperation than ever before. Set against this background, the Blue Peace approach aims at contributing to peace building through combined political and technical dialogues, which are substantiated in concrete regional projects and direct impact activities on the ground. Together with the Strategic Foresight Group (SFG) and local partners from academia, international organisations, civil society and private sector, SDC is able to promote policy and concrete solutions for sustainable development serving those threatened by water scarcity and conflict.

Caritas Maroc : Promouvoir l’exercice des droits humains des migrants au Maroc

Morocco is a country of transit and destination for migrants and refugees, 20’000 of which live on the margins of society, despite Morocco in 2014 adopting a first ever migration strategy, promising the respect of human rights and access to public services. Caritas enables 3’000 vulnerable migrants per year - mainly women and children - to translate access rights into access reality, and coaches public and civil society service providers to care for the specific needs of the new clients.

Prospects for young, unemployed adults in Bosnia and Herzegovina

The aim of the Youth Employment Project (YEP) is to help public employment bodies in Bosnia and Herzegovina to improve their offer and to introduce youth-friendly services, such as individual and group careers advice for unemployed young adults between 18 and 30 years. Together with local partners, YEP also promotes new job opportunities linked to social entrepreneurship models.

South Sudan, IOM: POCs, CCCM and Humanitarian Response Review Report

The review encompasses descriptions, analysis and evaluation of various components of CCCM and PoC establishment, development and operations and themes.
