24.02.2016
- 31.12.2017
The Middle East is currently contending with two L3 crises: Iraq and Syria. Over 20 million people need humanitarian assistance: refugees, lDPs, host communities. The deployed experts allow Switzerland to expand its operational engagement and humanitarian presence in the region, including in contexts where SDC has no office (Iraq and Syria).

Switzerland donates ambulances to Syria's suffering population
20.02.2016
- 31.12.2018
The SDC has delivered twelve new ambulances to the Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC). A Swiss delegation accompanied the delivery in the Syrian capital Damascus. The ambulances are urgently needed in Syria because the country's health system has too few ambulances to cope with the enormous number of victims caused by the war, including attacks against hospitals.

OCHA: Inter Cluster and Field Coordination in Meta
15.02.2016
- 31.03.2017
The cluster approach ongoing in Colombia since 2006 requires important coordination services among a wider range of partners, supporting the HC to ensure a coherent response, and providing field-based cluster leads with the inter-agency tools. Inter cluster coordination represents the strategic axis to ensure an adequate level of interaction among clusters and local humanitarian/coordination teams. With 9 operating humanitarian local teams in the field, where OCHA acts as secretariat, field coordination is an essential function of OCHA to deliver standardised guidelines to HLT, ensure proper support to partners and guaranty an efficient coordination of the local humanitarian response.

Swiss Bluetec Bridge: Swiss start-ups benefit disadvantaged populations
11.02.2016
- 31.05.2025
In addition to the sustainable management of resources and good governance, water-related challenges open up a wide field for technological innovation, particularly in the application of nanotechnologies for water treatment, especially ones which are energy-efficient. The challenge for Swiss Bluetec Bridge is to put these cutting-edge 'Swiss' technologies at the service of the poor and ensure that they are sustainably managed. To do this the project must seek to bridge the gap between public support for start-ups and private investment.

A National Training System for Simulation in Anaesthesia & Intensive Care and other Specialities
08.02.2016
- 30.06.2019
Anaesthesia & Intensive Care in adult and paediatric care is characterized by a high complexity of manoeuvres and specific procedures, as well as very complex clinical scenarios. There is an obvious need for stronger skills- based training as required by the European training models. In order to develop and maintain high training standards, Romania has recently introduced simulation methodology into continuous medical education (CME) at University level. However, the training capacity in in Romania remains limited: from the leading five universities, only two (Cluj, Tg-Mures) have simulation centres which are to some degree functional.

Core contribution to Women for Water Partnership (WfWP)
01.02.2016
- 31.12.2018
Gender equity is a precondition for equitable water resources management and human development opportunities for both women and men. Special attention is therefore required to women’s empowerment. Thus the continuation of the partnership with Women for Water Partnership (WfWP), the leading network of women organisations, is crucial in order to advocate for gender equity, increase women’s involvement and tap the full potential of their contribution to the water and development agenda.
