Diplomatic relations with São Tomé and Príncipe are handled by the Swiss embassy in Luanda (Angola), while consular affairs are handled by the embassy in Kinshasa (Democratic Republic of the Congo). However, São Tomé and Príncipe does not currently have an embassy or consulate in Switzerland.

According to statistics on the Swiss abroad, at the end of 2020, no Swiss citizens were living in São Tomé and Príncipe and only one Santomean citizen was living in Switzerland.
History of bilateral relations
Between 2002 and 2011, the Waldhaus am See Foundation of the surgeon Gian Meyer was active in São Tomé and Príncipe, in particular in the fields of education, basic health care and ophthalmology.
