Manual notification

Residents’ register offices can send notifications of the departure and return of Swiss nationals who have been, or will be, living abroad in paper form or by encrypted email, as well as by electronic transmission.

Residents’ register offices may continue to send notifications of Swiss nationals who are relocating abroad or returning to the commune in paper form or by encrypted email until they have made the necessary software adaptations for an electronic connection of eVERA via sedex.

Notifications should be sent directly to the competent representation abroad via the FDFA’s Courier Section. The competent representation can be found in the table of countries and Swiss representations available in the ‘Documents’ section above.

With a view to minimising the administrative burden, various templates are available in the ‘Documents’ section above and can be used as a basis if necessary. Residents’ register offices are also free to use their own registration and deregistration forms or to adapt the FDFA’s templates accordingly.
