Sentencing of the dual citizen in Belarus

The Minsk court sentenced Natallia Hersche to two and a half years' imprisonment.

The FDFA confirms that a court hearing took place today for Natallia Hersche, a Swiss/Belarusian citizen detained in Minsk. The Swiss Ambassador in Minsk attended the trial as an observer. He thus underlined the importance of the court case for the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA). The court sentenced Ms Hersche to two and a half years' imprisonment. The FDFA, together with Ms Hersche's lawyer, will now evaluate the next steps. Ms Hersche will continue to receive consular protection. For reasons of privacy and data protection no further details can be given.
