Welcome by the head of the Permanent Mission of Switzerland in Geneva
The role of the Mission and how it works.
Presentation of the members of the Mission management
The term International Geneva refers to the City of Geneva's long tradition of hosting international organisations. Geneva is recognised as a centre of excellence for international cooperation and multilateral diplomacy
International Geneva offers a significant potential for synergies between actors. In order to exploit it, Switzerland has created a set of practical tools that includes platforms for coordination, reflection and cooperation with influential foreign think tanks.
The Human Rights Section promotes and defends Switzerland's interests within the Human Rights Council and its subsidiary mechanisms
Geneva hosts the Conference on Disarmament and the majority of the disarmament institutions
Most of the main humanitarian organisations and a large number of international non-governmental organisations are based in Geneva. The Humanitarian Affairs Section safeguards Switzerland's interests in these bodies
The Global Affairs Section safeguards Switzerland's interests within the international organisations, agencies, funds, programmes and secretariats based in Geneva
The Mission's Section of Privileges and Immunities is responsible for applying the system of diplomatic benefits to the international community and its registration service issues FDFA legitimation cards.
This manual was created to explain the system of privileges and immunities to the permanent missions, international organisations and their staff members.
A FAQ (frequently asked questions) has been prepared to answer the questions that are usually asked about the regime of privileges, immunities and facilities applicable to permanent missions, international organisations, as well as to the staff and members of their families.
The Section for Security and General Affairs deals with requests from international organisations and permanent missions regarding security. It facilitates the issuing of visas for International Geneva and deals with disputes.
Information on visas is provided to those expected within the context of International Geneva.
The Section for Real Estate and Framework Conditions provides operational support for all real estate matters related to the presence in Switzerland of international organisations, permanent missions and their personnel.
This manual provides relevant information to foreign States or members of personnel of permanent missions and international organisations who would like to aquire a property in Switzerland
The brochure presents the actors of International Geneva and their joint daily commitment to peace, rights and wellbeing worldwide.
