Welcome message from the Ambassador
Welcome to the Permanent Mission of Switzerland to the United Nations in Rome!
The Permanent Mission is one of four diplomatic representations of Switzerland in Italy, the others being the Swiss Embassy in Rome, the Swiss Embassy to the Holy See and the Consulate General in Milano.
This website contains information on the Permanent Mission and Switzerland’s engagement in the three organizations of the United Nations based in Rome dealing with food and agriculture, the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the World Food Programme (WFP) and the International Fund for Agriculture Development (IFAD), as well as the Committee on World Food Security (CFS) hosted by the FAO.
Switzerland continually strengthens its engagement in multilateral forums, supporting the international community’s shared goals of achieving food security and nutrition via sustainable and resilient food systems and addressing the impact of climate change.
Currently, Switzerland's support extends in particular to sustainable agriculture and food systems, sustainable management of livestock and water, nutrition, climate change adaptation and mitigation, agroecology, right to food, tenure governance, rural livelihoods, biodiversity, gender youth, private sector engagement and the protection of civilians.
Switzerland's broad-ranging collaboration with the three United Nations organizations shows its commitment towards the progressive realization of the right to food and more generally the sustainable development goals.
The Mission’s team is committed to carrying out its activities in the most efficient way possible. Please reach out to us for any queries, we would be happy to welcome you in our premises!
