Economy and Commerce

We contribute to strengthening and enhancing the Sino-Swiss economic relations within six provinces in South China. Nine cities (Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Foshan, Dongguan, etc.) among the dynamic Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area represent a major trade and innovation hub in China. Fujian, Hunan, Jiangxi, Hainan and Guangxi enjoy fast development on machinery and equipment manufacturing, or have well-established tourism economy. In cooperation with the Swiss Business Hub, we support Swiss companies to establish contacts and to promote Swiss exports. Since 2010, China has been Switzerland’s most important trading partner in Asia. The Sino-Swiss Free Trade Agreement, China’s first such treaty with a continental European country, has entered into force on July 1st 2014.
