03.12.2024 – developments in the region

The Embassy of Switzerland in Lebanon closely monitors the situation in the region. The risk of escalation in the region remains high. The development of the situation is  uncertain and a renewed deterioration of the security situation throughout the country is possible at any time. Travel to Lebanon is not recommended.

The decision to leave the country is voluntary and at your own risk and expense. Therefore, use the commercial means of transport that are  available. Switzerland does not intend to carry out an organized departure for Swiss nationals.

For Swiss nationals: Please refer to the travel advice of the FDFA and keep yourself informed about the current situation. Swiss nationals who remain in Lebanon or travel there contrary to the recommendations of the FDFA  must be aware that Switzerland may only be able to provide limited services or none at all if the security situation deteriorates further.

The Swiss Embassy in Beirut is currently open and continues to provide its usual services.
