Dear Visitor
Hei and welcome to the website of the Embassy of Switzerland in Norway!
Whether you are a Swiss tourist visiting Norway, a Swiss citizen residing in this State or the representative of a Swiss company interested or involved in this country, you will find here useful information on different aspects of the friendly and long-lasting relation between Switzerland and the Kingdom of Norway. The two countries share many values such as democracy, rules-based order, human rights, solidarity or protection of the environment and are often like-minded.
Switzerland is present in Oslo since 1847 and Norway in Switzerland since 1906. These respective presences took the form of embassies as we know them today in 1955 for the Norwegian embassy in Bern and in 1957 for the Swiss embassy in Oslo.
As official representation of Switzerland to Norway, this embassy covers all matters concerning diplomatic relations between the two countries. It represents Switzerland’s interests in the areas of political, economic and financial affairs, international law issues, science, education and culture. You will also discover that this Embassy pursue similar objectives in Iceland.
During my assignment, I will strive to maintain and develop the existing ties, to further strengthen the bilateral cooperation, to promote Switzerland’s interest in various domains and to protect Swiss citizens if needed…and I will do so as the first Swiss woman ambassador to the Kingdom of Norway and Iceland.
Consular services are provided by the Regional Consular Center in Stockholm. For consular matters you are invited to contact this center directly. The link consular services provides information on consular issues, such as passports and identity cards, civil status affairs, political rights and legalizations. It also advises on how the Embassy or the Swiss honorary consulates in Norway and Iceland can support Swiss citizens in case of need. Under visa and entry to Switzerland, the Swiss regulations relevant to this field are described.
This website is also an entrance door for those interested in Switzerland. Thanks to links to Swiss authorities or institutions and to the Swiss federal administration, access is given to a variety of constantly updated information on Switzerland and to concise answers to the most frequently asked questions.
I hope you will enjoy visiting our website and I invite you to submit (oslo@eda.admin.ch) your possible comments or suggestions. Your feedback will help us to improve the flow of information and to assist you better. Please contact us in case you need further assistance from this Embassy.
