Switzerland to Launch Hayat II project in Sohag city to improve the economic livelihood of 1,000 people

Cairo, Egypt – The Embassy of Switzerland, together with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), will launch “Hayat II” project on May 21 in Egypt’s Upper Egyptian city of Sohag, with the aim of boosting the economic livelihood of 1,000 people through providing them with training and income generating opportunities in the agricultural field.

Swiss Embassy celebrates the opening of Stoppelaëre´s house in Luxor

CAIRO – On February 17, Minister of Antiquities Khaled El Enany and Swiss Ambassador Markus Leitner, in the presence of Irina Bokova, Director General of UNESCO, will open the fully restored Stoppelaëre´s house in Luxor, built in 1950 by Egyptian architect Hassan Fathy for French conservator Alexandre Stoppelaëre.

Egypt’s Museum of Islamic Art opens this Week to the Public

CAIRO – The Museum of Islamic Art and Manuscript Museum of Dar El-Kotob opened this week to the public, following years of restoration work to repair damages by a January 2014 bomb attack in Cairo’s Bab El-Qhalq area. Switzerland contributed 550,000 Egyptian pounds ($78,000) (exchange rate of 2016) to the restoration work along with the bulk of the funds provided by the Government of the United Arab Emirates and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).

Swiss Embassy launches exhibition to celebrate the opening

CAIRO, Egypt - The Embassy of Switzerland launched an exhibition titled “Linking North and South” on January 17th 2017 at the Egyptian Railway Museum to celebrate the opening of Switzerland’s Gotthard Base tunnel, the world’s longest railway tunnel, linking North and South Europe.
