The integrated Embassy of Switzerland in Morocco now covers the activities initially assumed by the Cooperation Office.
Cooperation between Morocco and Switzerland began in February 2004 following the Al Hoceima earthquake. Responding to Morocco's appeal and in solidarity with the affected population, Switzerland sent experts and initiated a programme in Morocco on risk management, climate change and natural resource management.
Cooperation activities were diversified from 2011 onwards. Currently, the cooperation activities of the various federal actors are concentrated, within the framework of the International Cooperation Strategy 2021-24 and according to a whole-of-government approach, on the following three areas: governance and human rights (Human Security Division), economic development and employment (State Secretariat for Economic Affairs) and migration and protection (Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation).
During the covid-19 pandemic, the Embassy also supported the efforts of the Moroccan government and civil society to combat the consequences of this crisis with projects financed by the SDC.
