Press releases, 22.04.2025

The Embassy of Switzerland in Mozambique, as part of its bilateral cooperation in the governance domain, launched a public tender on 18 November 2024 for the ‘Land and Natural Resources Local Governance’ project. This initiative aims to support the implementation of Mozambique's 2022 Land Policy by strengthening local communities' capacity to register land and integrate it into district land registry systems.

With the goal of achieving improved land governance to contribute to conflict prevention and enhanced livelihoods in the province of Niassa, the selected bidder will design and pilot a new approach to land governance, adhering to good governance principles, in selected districts of the province. By collaborating with local authorities, communities, and justice actors, local communities will be equipped with the tools to assert their rights and effectively utilize the benefits from natural resource exploitation. This project also supports the implementation of the new land policy and contributes to the finalization of the land law.

Following a rigorous evaluation of nine tenders based on the published award criteria, the contract has been awarded to Centro de Aprendizagem e Capacitação da Sociedade Civil (CESC), with subcontractors Terra Firma (TF), Centro de Formação Jurídica e Judiciária (CFJJ), and Rede Provincial de Paralegais para a Arbitragem e Desenvolvimento Sustentável (Repades – JAC).
