South Sudan, WFP: UNHAS Contribution 2016
Poor transport infrastructure, lack of access to remote locations and persistent insecurity present a very challenging operation environment in South Sudan. The only available option to reach most locations and needy population in South Sudan is through air transport. The WFP managed United Nations Humanitarian Air Service (UNHAS) is the only viable, reliable and safe transport option available to the humanitarian community at large to access the needy population and provide them with humanitarian assistance.
