FAO Sudan Emergency Livelihoods Response Plan (ELRP)

Six months after the outbreak of conflict in Sudan between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), 20.3m people face food insecurity. Contexte The humanitarian situation in Sudan is on the brink of a catastrophe after conflict erupted across the country in the middle of April 2023. Hunger was already on the rise, with each year since 2020 registering record levels food insecurity, which the ongoing fighting is now worsening. More than 6m people are on the edge of famine and 20.3m people – 42 percent of the population – face acute food insecurity classified as IPC Phase 3 or higher. Violence continues to spread, and could plunge millions more into hunger, while making it harder for farmers, pastoralists, and fishers to access assets, services, and support to ensure crop and fish production, improve seed diversification and protect animal stock from depleting.
Objectifs In line with Strategic Objective 1 of the revised 2023 Humanitarian Response Plan for Sudan, the ELRP will provide timely, multi‑cluster, life-saving assistance to crisis-affected people to reduce mortality and morbidity.
Groupes cibles 10.1m farmers, herders and fishers in 17 states across Sudan including IDPs and refugees with a priority to female-headed households
