On the occasion of the 2018 International Sports Teaching Symposium at the National Taiwan Normal University, Swiss athlete Marcel Straub came to Taiwan to present a new innovative and easy to use movement game from Switzerland: Street Racket.
Street Racket is a new racket sport invented by Rahel and Marcel Straub from Zurich. It reaches out to all age groups and playing levels and it makes everyone more competent in their movements and motor skills through playful hand-eye coordination training. No specific courts or expensive equipment are required to play Street Racket. Every surface is converted into instant sports grounds where people can engage in social activities. All it takes is some lines on the ground (with chalk, colour, tape or sports markers),a racket and a ball–and you are ready to go. Playing Street Racket gives everyone, anytime and anywhere the opportunity to be active and healthy while having lots of fun. In just under a year, this new sport has moved thousands of kids and adults in Switzerland and has also been very well received with elderly people and people with a handicap.
On August 14 and 15, Marcel Straub held several workshops to increase the impact and to train Taiwanese sport instructors to Street Racket. After two days of workshops, feedbacks were overwhelmingly positive and all the equipment was sold.
