Dushanbe, September 13, 2021 – The Government of Switzerland through its Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) is providing technical support to the Ministry of Finance of Tajikistan to assess the public financial management (PFM) system in Tajikistan using the Public Expenditure and Financial Accountability (PEFA) performance measurement framework. The purpose of this PEFA assessment is to review the changes in Tajikistan’s PFM system performance since the last PEFA assessment that was carried out in 2017. The PEFA report approved by the PEFA Secretariat will provide the Ministry of Finance with an objective and up-to-date assessment of current the PFM system performance.

Additionally, on 13th September 2021 the Swiss Cooperation Office in Tajikistan donated to the Ministry of Finance technical equipment so the responsible team at the ministry can work more effectively on data collection and analysis. It should be emphasized that this work goes in line with the PFM reform program initiated by the Government of Tajikistan. Moreover, this activity complements the recently adopted Public Finance Management Reform Strategy (PFMRS) of Tajikistan for the period until 2030.

We believe that the Swiss support to the Ministry of Finance of Tajikistan in this task will contribute to improving the public financial management and provide further basis for reform strategies.
