Swiss author Peter Stamm believes we don’t read literature to get news, but to have it confirmed that the world is as it is, that people are as we are. That we all speak a common language, can understand each other and that our life has a meaning.

About Peter Stamm

Peter Stamm is an award-winning author who has published six novels, five collections of stories, three children’s books and several radio and stage plays. His books have been translated into 39 languages. He has been short-listed for the Man Booker International Prize.

He studied English Literature, Psychology and Psychopathology at the Zürich University. Before taking up a career as freelance writer, he was working as a journalist. He spent some time in Paris, New York and Scandinavia and lives now with his family in Winterthur.
