Friday, 03.10.2014 – Sunday, 05.10.2014

Born in Zürich, Switzerland, in 1981, Tobias has music in his roots. Originally from the Appenzell region, known for its folk tradition, his father played the accordion, his grandfather was a multi-instrumentalist and Preisig took up the violin. He was the first violinist to study jazz at the University of the Arts in Bern. In 1999 he left Switzerland to complete a BA (Hons) degree with the jazz department of the New School in New York. Preisig toured with the European Youth Jazz Orchestra in 2003 and embarked on a Masters in classical violin at Zurich University of the Arts with Professor Ulrich Gröner. Little Horse-Ho was a collaboration with George Gruntz and special guest David Liebman (2009) for the label TCB, but it was in the following year that Flowing Mood, the debut of his current quartet, was released on the New York based label, ObliqSound followed by In Transit on Traumton Records in 2012. The band have toured Germany, Austria, France, China and Japan appearing at festivals such as Überjazz Hamburg, Jazz Meeting Berlin, Cully Jazz Festival, Basel Off Beat, Jazzahead, Unerhört and Shanghai Jazz.
