Francophonie à Taïwan organized by Alliance Francaise will officially open on 2 March this year.  In addition, the annual Festival du film francophone will open on 6 March.  You can catch the Swiss film, Home (by Ursula Meier) on 8 March at 16:00 at the National Central Library.

The film follows a family living near an unfinished highway, which they use to install an inflatable swimming pool and to ride bikes. But their lives are disrupted when construction unexpectedly resumes and they suddenly live next to a busy, loud and polluting highway. The film explores themes of family dynamics, isolation, and the psychological effects of confinement.

The screening is free, and open to the public.

Other than the film screenings, there’s a variety of offerings during Francophonie, including guided tours of Tainan, lectures, a short film festival, cooking classes, a singing contest and more. Find more details of the program by visiting Alliance Francaise and on their Facebook.
