Federal Councillor Didier Burkhalter attends World Economic Forum (WEF)

From 21 to 24 January 2015 the 45th annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) will be held in Davos, at which several members of the Federal Council will be represented. Federal Councillor Didier Burkhalter will use his presence at the WEF inter alia to hold bilateral talks, including with the First Vice-President of the European Commission, Frans Timmermans, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini, and his French counterpart Laurent Fabius

Federal Councillor Didier Burkhalter, the head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, will take part in the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) from Wednesday 21 January to Friday 23 January 2015.  During his time in Davos he has scheduled talks, inter alia, with the First Vice-President of the European Commission, Frans Timmermans, and the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini. Meetings are also planned with his counterparts Laurent Fabius (France), Mohammad Javad Zarif (Iran) and Tamar Beruchashvili (Georgia), and with Tony Blair, Quartet Representative.

In addition, Mr Burkhalter and Prof. Klaus Schwab will sign an agreement between Switzerland and the WEF on Friday. Based on the Host State Act, the agreement will provide for greater cooperation.
