The Second International Meeting of the «Global Action Against Mass Atrocity Crimes» is taking place in Manila from 2 to 4 February 2016. It aims to identify needs and challenges in atrocity prevention and further develop prevention strategies.

The Second International Meeting of the «Global Action Against Mass Atrocity Crimes» (GAAMAC II) is on the theme of «Preventing atrocities: How to strengthen national atrocity prevention architectures». It aims to identify current needs and challenges in atrocity prevention at state level and strengthen national preventive strategies and architectures in order to prevent crisis situations leading to mass atrocities.

Examples of preventive strategies at national and regional level will be provided by the Latin American Network for Genocide and Mass Atrocity Prevention and the Regional Committee on the Prevention and Punishment of Genocide, War Crimes and Crimes against Humanity and all forms of Discrimination of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR), as well as other organisations.

Switzerland current GAAMAC chair

GAAMAC is a group of states, NGOs and academic institutions that work together for the prevention of mass atrocity crimes.

States, UN agencies, international and regional organisations and NGOs are some of those represented at the conference. Current GAAMAC chair Switzerland has organised the conference jointly with the government of the Philippines.

The working language of the conference is English.
