Recognising the gap in financing sustainable and resilient food systems globally, this multi-donor, public pri-vate partnership initiative is designed to catalyse private-sector investment in food systems, including from Swiss investors. By leveraging private investments and providing technical assistance to small and medium agribusiness enterprises, rural financial intermediaries and farmer organisations, the project promotes new income opportunities and better services for smallholder farmers and their application of more sustainable and nutrition-sensitive farm practices.

Equitable land rights are key to sustainable and resilient food systems. The International Land Coa-lition (ILC) is a global network of organisations working on people centred land governance in over 85 countries. ILC's vision is a world where everyone has secure access to land and natural resources. ILC, including through its 35 national land coalitions, promotes many Swiss interests, such as peace-ful and democratic societies, and addresses growing inequalities – including gender inequalities.

HEKS/EPER, through an extensive network of partners, engages in inclusion, equal rights, peacebuilding, and resilience by empowering people to overcome disparities and reduce poverty. The main focus is on the right and access to land and resources and their sustainable management, the right to food, agro-ecological production, inclusive markets, and climate justice and adaptation for improved resilience. Increasingly well anchored in humanitarian aid, HEKS/EPER provides emergency assistance.

UNITE is a Swiss umbrellao rganisationw ith 13 member organisationse ngaged in Personnel Development Cooperation (PDC). The UNITE programme 2025-28 brings together the contribution of nine members to the implementation of the Swiss IC Strategy 2025-28 and the SDGs by strengthening and empowering local organisations in the Global South, in particular through the assignment of qualified, voluntary professionals. UNITE has developed Swiss PDC standards and contributes to the development of international PDC guidelines.

Biovision and CEAS jointly serve as a catalyst for an inclusive (agro-)ecological transformation that contributes to healthy, prosperous and resilient communities and a sound environment. IFAD aims at transforming rural economies and food systems by making them more inclusive, productive, resilient and sustainable. During 2025-2027, IFAD plans lifting 100 million poor rural women and men out of hunger and poverty. IFAD is one of the 24 priority multilateral organisations of the Swiss International Cooperation and shares its priorities on issues of food security, climate change, nutrition, gender and youth, through innovation and increased engagement with the private sector.

Ces fédérations ont pour objectif commun de renforcer qualité des activités mises en oeuvre par ses membres. Elles jouent le rôle d’interfaces entre leurs organisations membres et les pouvoirs publics – communes, cantons et Confédération, mais également avec le secteur privé, les universités, ce qui donne un effet de levier multiplicateur dans la mise en oeuvre des activités de leurs membres pour la mise en oeuvre de la stratégie de la CI 2025-28.
Gender Equality in Food Systems

Gender-based discrimination, or the denial of women’s rights, is one of the major causes of poverty and food insecurity. The support from SDC contributes to women’s economic empowerment and the sustainable and transformative change in their livelihoods. FAO, IFAD, WFP and UN Women together tackle the barriers to gender equality at global, regional and national levels, including through the uptake of the CFS Voluntary Guidelines on Gender Equality and Women’s and Girls Empowerment.
Global Governance on Food Security and Nutrition

The fight against hunger and malnutrition requires coordinated policy guidance based on scientific evidence and informed by voices from the ground. The Committee on World Food Security is the platform for all stakeholders to work together to provide such guidance. This contribution gives Switzerland additional leverage in shaping the policy environment at global level and allows Swiss development cooperation approaches to be incorporated into global policy discussions.
