Support to earthquake-displaced families and their host households in La Guaira in Venezuela

Following the earthquakes in Venezuela, Switzerland is supporting a programme implemented by Caritas Venezuela that provides multipurpose cash transfers to displaced families and their host families in La Guaira to help them meet their basic needs. Beyond addressing urgent humanitarian needs, the project will generate operational learning to support the wider use of cash assistance in future post disaster responses in Venezuela.
Emergency contribution to UNESCO for the preservation and restoration of the damaged Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra heritage site

Switzerland’s contribution will support UNESCO’s work in safeguarding Ukraine’s cultural heritage amid ongoing war. This single-phase contribution will target the immediate preservation of the damaged Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra through winterization measures. It will also allow design documentation to be prepared for its future full consolidation and reconstruction. This support helps strengthen the resilience of Ukrainian institutions and communities.
JOR, GIZ, Wastewater Treatment in Azraq

In partnership with the EU, Switzerland will contribute to the construction of a wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) serving Azraq municipality and the nearby refugee camp. The proposed project stems from the Government of Jordan’s (GoJ) interest in developing integrated sanitation services that benefit both Jordanians and refugees, while also protecting the area’s groundwater resources. Switzerland will build on its established relationships with local communities to support efficient and sustainable wastewater management and demonstrate the potential of wastewater reuse.
France: SET Forest Fires, July 2026

Due to the devastating forest fires in several parts of France and resulting needs for international response the French authorities submitted a demand to Switzerland for assistance. Based on the agreement between SDC/H and the Swiss Armed Forces (ADRIANA) a joint deployment (SDC/Swiss Armed Forces) with two Superpuma helicopters (Swiss Air Force) and respective staff members is planned to support the French responders to limit damage of nature and infrastructure by dropping water on the burning areas and in particular to protect and support the affected population. A similar deployment took place in August 2021 in Greece.

The intervention aims at supporting Moldova’s transition from fragmented emergency assistance towards more integrated health financing and service delivery for refugees and other vulnerable foreign populations. Strengthening Protection and Resilience for Vulnerable Communities in Yemen

Protection issues are a driver and effect of deepening humanitarian needs in Yemen. This thematic contribution to the NRC Protection portfolio will boost NRC capacities to deliver protection services and legal assistance to vulnerable individuals, strengthen communities’ protective capacities, and to uphold protection coordination of the humanitarian system in Yemen. In doing so, SDC takes a principled stance to maintain operational space for protection activities in the whole of Yemen.
Emergency water supply, sanitation and hygiene in the Mare Abajo IDP camp

Switzerland was among the first humanitarian responders following the devastating 24 June 2026 earthquake. After the USAR phase a rapid response team was deployed. This WASH intervention aims to reduce suffering by providing essential WASH facilities and services in the emergency response. The 3-month project will be implemented by Action Against Hunger (ACH). In addition to core WASH services, it includes water quality monitoring and solid waste management to support the dignity of IDPs in the camp. Protection mainstreaming is integrated across all project activities.
Protection in Emergencies in Venezuela

Following the earthquakes of 24 June in Venezuela, this project aims to improve the protection, safety, and well-being of the most vulnerable people in La Guaira, Caracas, and Miranda, including internally displaced persons, children, and families. It will provide integrated protection services, including GBV response, MHPSS, and family reunification, while addressing immediate protection risks and strengthening their safety, well-being and resilience.
