SDC contribution to Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute aims to enhance technical support and training for global malaria control by contributing knowledge and experience to strategically important institutions and initiatives, such as Roll Back Malaria and World Health Organization, and guarantee a medium-term investment of Swiss commitment to malaria control beyond the Millennium Development Goals. The contribution to develop a global capacity strengthening plan responds to a need of coordinated action.

Multilateral Contribution to the Adaptation Fund (AF)

The Adaptation Fund (AF) was created by the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol to finance concrete adaptation projects and programmes in developing countries that are particularly vulnerable to the adverse effects of climate change. The AF features innovative resource mobilization and access strategies and is laying the foundation for larger-scale results-based adaptation financing through the Green Climate Fund (as of 2015). The contribution is in line with consensus decisions by the UNFCCC.

DRC Contribution – Mixed Migration; Horn of Africa and Yemen

The aim of this intervention is to prevent violations against and increase protection for people in mixed migration flows in the HoA and Yemen region. It is a contribution to the Danish Refugee Council (DRC) with focus on two specific partial actions: I) supports activities on protection needs and awareness raising in Puntland, II) strengthens information and knowledge sharing on a regional level in the HoA.

Local Gouvernance Initative and Network (LOGIN)

10 member countries of the LOGIN network gain knowledge through peer learning and apply learning in their practice. As a result they are able to fulfill assigned responsibilities more effectively and advance implementation of jointly identified DLG reform priorities. The network approach will serve as instrument for promoting cross-country learning and linkage building. Establishing synergies and complementarity between LOGIN activities and SDC programs has the potential to advance reforms and to increase scale and effectiveness of SDC programs.

Development Cooperation Forum 2012-14: High Level Symposium on the future of development cooperation

The Development Cooperation Forum (DCF) is the United Nation’s platform on Development Cooperation. Since its inception in 2007 the DCF takes place bi-annually as part of ECOSOC High Level Segment. Switzerland has been a major supporter of the DCF since the beginning. The DCF 2012-14 takes place in the context of the post-2015 debate. Switzerland has decided to play an active role in this DCF cycle in organizing a High Level DCF Symposium in Montreux in October 2013. “The Future of Development Cooperation” will be the theme of the symposium. The outcomes will contribute to the DCF 2014 and help to clarify the role of development cooperation in the post-2015 agenda. It will take into account the shifted poverty geography, new channels of finance and the role new development actors.
